THANKSGIVING
DAY
The
turkey's in the oven, laughing children at the door,
It's
a time for great rejoicing. Thanksgiving's come once more.
Grandpa's
busy helping Grandma get the preparations right,
For
the family is coming. Some may even spend the night!
The
aromas from the kitchen smell like pumpkin pie and spice.
Appetizers
are so tempting that you have to try them twice!
Apple
cider from the pitcher is refreshing, iced and cool,
While
and children are rejoicing that today there is no school!
The
football games are starting. To the T.V. some are glued,
While
others wish their time away just waiting for the food.
Leaves
drifting past the window flash of yellow, gold and red,
While
the table draped in linen waits the bounty to be spread.
Harvest
time was blessed with plenty, and for this we give our thanks.
Much
was stored away for winter. It's like money in our banks.
Aunts
and uncles, kids and cousins, gathered from across the way,
Share
the family, fun and feasting, for it is Thanksgiving day.
