Located at the foot of the Rocky Mountain’s West Elk range, Crawford is surrounded by extraordinary views created by majestic mountains and unique geological structures. A small town, historically a ranch and farm center, Crawford offers a friendly, small town atmosphere and the serenity that only a small town can offer. The economy is still supported by ranches, now augmented by vacation lodges, local artisans and visitors from around the world. The Crawford Reservoir State Park and the town’s proximity to the Gunnison National Forest, West Elk Wilderness and Black Canyon National Park make the area a paradise to live and play in.
The annual Pioneer Days, celebrates Crawford’s heritage. The weekend of festivities includes a parade, arts and crafts booths, barbeque, auction, baking contest, melodrama, horseshoe contest, art and photography show, live entertainment and a fireworks finale.
