Indulgence Salon features innovative infra-red tanning bed

So you
crave a golden glow, but fear that “leathery” look. Fear no more! Thanks to
improvements in tanning technology, you can lightly toast your torso
while buffing your complexion to pure peaches and cream.
Available
at Indulgence Salon in Montrose beginning in April, the latest in
tanning beds offers infra-red therapy for the face. “As far
as I know, this will be the only bed of this type on the Western
Slope,” Indulgence Owner and Stylist Gia Porter said. “It can reduce
fine lines and wrinkles, and laxity of skin at the neck.”
Infra-red treatments have been around since the 1950s, but have enjoyed increasing popularity in the last few years. In the past such treatments have been used largely in the healing process. Their potential to promote facial health and beauty is only now being discovered.
“Typically, infra-red facials are pricey--they can cost around $110, with a wavelength of 300 to 400 nanometers.” Porter said, adding that such facials have been used to treat acne scars and skin lesions, to heal wounds, and to promote collagen renewal.
The new infra-red tanning bed is three times more powerful than the typical handheld infra-red treatment device, offering a wavelength of 700 nanometers.
“The tanning bed itself is not super powerful,” Porter said. “That way you can have more frequent exposure. It’s geared to lightly tan you—a not-so-serious tan combined with serious skin care. Receive a light facial, and soften fine lines and wrinkles in your face while you tan.”
