the artist’s hands...coaxing an idea from its initial intangible form
to finished expression in a one-of-a-kind work of art, is the specialty
of Montrose artist Lu Anne Tyrrell. “I have learned to pay close attention, and to honor my creativity,” said Tyrrell, who is currently working on a large photo series for Timberline Bank and a definitive poster of Montrose for local outlets. “It’s there for a reason. “It is part of my
driving force—I feel compelled to bring my art to the masses.”Tyrrell’s past work has included photography for local publications and private clients, as well as limited edition posters created from her original paintings. Her favorite form of expression is the use of mixed media, she notes. “I can bring ideas to life for better enjoyment of people, places, and scenery,” she said. “I am very strong at taking somebody’s thoughts and putting them into tangible form through photography and art.” Although she has also served as a past executive director of Historic Montrose Downtown, as a public relations consultant for other entities, and has been active on the board of directors of the popular Main in Motion program since its inception, Tyrrell finds that her true passion lies in helping a variety of clients realize their own creative visions through her own artistic talents. The Timberline Bank
project will be finalized when the bank opens this fall. Tyrrell has
also recently completed a logo and photo prints, with a watercolor
incorporated into a six by four foot tapestry installed at Tower
Realty. “To me, Montrose is about diversity of culture, heritage, landscape, and geography. When I think about Montrose altogether, the landscape and geography are phenomenal. I like the historic aspects, and the fact that this is a burgeoning community, a regional hub.” Both the city and the county will be incorporated into the piece, she noted. A native of Colorado, Tyrrell has made her home here since 1999. She has been voted friendliest gal by readers of the Montrose Daily Press, and is known to many as a tireless booster of local events and activities. Her local family includes mom Lucille, who shares her daughter’s enthusiasm for life—and pets—at age 90. “I love animals and
all of God’s creatures, of any furred ethnicity,” Tyrrell said. “I love
anything and everything to do with the outdoors, and classic
automobiles. And I believe music enriches the soul; it is very
important to me. I feel
an innate creative responsibility when it comes to design and
photography,” she continued. “I enjoy capturing moments in time. And I
am blessed and grateful to be able to work in the creative field,
within my native state of Colorado.”To celebrate that,
Tyrrell recently released her new, vibrant montage mixed media Colorado
print. The print depicts the capitol building, historic downtown, Union
Station, and bucking bronco, then transcends to the San Juan Mountains
and the rich agriculture of the southwest sector. Her intent is
to make this print available in quantity throughout the state to
celebrate Colorado.
